Things to see & do in Loch Leven, Glencoe and surrounding area

 

Glencoe is an area steeped in history and there is much to be discovered in the local Museum and Visitor Centre.

The old Slate mining area, outdoor museum just up the road at Ballachullish, is well worth exploring too. The area has many Activities on its doorstep, Climbing (Kinlochleven 10 mins drive , has a new Ice Factor indoor climbing centre), Ben Nevis and the Mamores, Paps of Glencoe, Aonach Mhor Ski Centre are close by.

Sail on Loch Leven

  • Trips to Skye and the Kintails are also easy from here.

  • Fabulous walking area with quick easy access to the West Highland Way.
    Mountain Biking trails and bike hire available locally.

  • Lochaber Watersports is 5 mins up the road where Kayaks, sailing boats, pedalos and power boats, fishing and whale watching trips are available.

  • Wildlife and Bird watching is good in the area and easy access to bird watching paradise on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula is short drive away using the ferry at Corran.

Otters can be seen on Loch Leven opposite the cottage, often sighted under the bridge at Ballachullish. Seals , sea duck, waders also to be seen on the Loch. You may even be lucky enough to see Golden Eagle flying over.

The Sea Life Centre at Benderloch (30 mins drive approx.) is a good visit for adults and children.
Book a ride on the Beautiful West Highland Railway from Fort William to Mallaig to view the stunning scenery and see where the Hogwarts Express sequences were filmed.

Local Tourist Office up the road at Ballachullish can provide more up to date info on Special Activities taking place in the area.
